The Full Month Hebrew series features two ways of visualizing the dates of the Jewish calendar. In one version, the days of the lunar month are represented by Hebrew numerals – the letters of the Hebrew alphabet. In the other, the days are represented by the changing phases of the moon – from the invisible new moon, slowly waxing to the complete circle of the full moon, only to wane back to nothing and repeat the cycle again with every new month. Judaism reckons the day from sunset to sunset, recognizing the end of one day and the beginning of the next by the appearance of three stars in the night sky. The highlighted slit will therefore be replaced by the next every evening, and so on, until it comes full circle and the next month begins.
